Zunil Pillow Case

$156.00

Zunil is a town located on the outskirts of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. The population of approximately 14,000 residents are all indigenous people who speak K’iche and Spanish. Due to the close proximity of volcanoes, there are amazing natural thermal baths around town. Zunil is also well known for its Festival of San Simon. Every October a life-size mannequin of San Simon (also known as Maximón) is moved to a different home where he will stay for the next year. San Simon is not only known to answer prayers that protect children and bring plentiful crops to the fields, but he is also believed to have the power to cure insomnia and ward off thieves. The awe-inspiring beauty of Zunil’s thermal baths and the intricacies of faith still practiced in Zunil are woven into this colorful design.
